Bruna

Olá, I'm Bruna Baudel :)

A little bit of my story

Childhood

lil girl

I've been fascinated by tecnology since I was little.

One day, my father brought a Windows 95 PC to our home. After a while, I started building my own HTML websites. I remember I built a website to store the lyrics of my favorite songs.

CS Girl

Naturally, I got into Computer Science.

At the university, I was amazed by Algorithms, Linear Algebra, Compilers, and many other tech topics.

It was the most profound and intense time of study in my life. I was immersed in an extreme learning environment. I had the opportunity to learn many different programming languages, build many complex applications and algorithms, work with a team of colleagues, and test my skills to the extreme.

Android Brother

In the first year of my studies, my brother asked me to take Android classes with him. That's how I entered the world of mobile development.

I really enjoyed it! Thanks, bro!

Startup

At the university, I really wanted to build something meaningful with my skills. Then, I co-founded a startup with my colleagues: Procura Tecnologia.

We created eVita, an app to check medicine interactions. It had more than 1 million interactions between medicines in the database. I was responsible for the development of the iOS and Android apps.

As nobody from the team had experience with building apps for iOS, I decided to take the responsibility and learn how to build iOS apps on my Samsung notebook! It went very well. I learned Objective-C, Xcode, and the entire macOS environment. I really loved this stack.

I've been passionate about iOS development (even with Objective-C) since that time.

The startup went really well! We were one of the first in Brazil to have an iOS app on the App Store. We received many offers from investors and clients to build other apps.

Amazing times!

Android Internship

In the final year of my studies, I started working professionally with Android development. I had the chance to work with very skilled people who taught me a lot about the Android SDK using Java.

Mobile Games

One of the latest projects at university was to build a mobile game. We created Dustdog, an endless game where the dog would clean a beach with its vacuum cleaner. A very creative game in my opinion. We used libGDX to develop the game for both platforms (Android and iOS).

2016

Accenture

My time at Accenture was the most professionally fulfilling period of my career. I had the opportunity to work for one of the largest mining companies in the world, Vale do Rio Doce.

I worked with a highly skilled team of senior experts. I learned a lot, especially about the business aspects, where you have to follow all the processes of a large company.

I was responsible for developing a dashboard to manage all the processes inside the harbor, such as loading and unloading ships with solid materials. We used AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Java EE. I was also responsible for maintaining the middleware that updated all the KPIs in the database from other servers. For this, we used Java EE, Spring Framework, Tomcat, SOAP, Oracle Database, and other internal tools.

The year of 2018

USA

Aaaah... the US! I was so excited to travel. It was my first time outside Brazil!

I spent 3 months living in Los Angeles. I had the most incredible time in the US. I traveled everywhere, from San Diego to Las Vegas, from DC to New York. I also studied English at the University of California.

Good times!

2018

iOS Freelance

This was the year I became a professional in iOS development.

I started freelancing for a credit card company. I was responsible for building their app from scratch. I was living the dream of traveling and working. I built the app with Swift and UIKit without Storyboard, and they were very impressed by it. I had to use SSL Pinning and Keychain to work with the token from their API. I learned a lot!

EU

I also traveled for a bit more than a month almost everywhere in Europe. Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and so on.

2018

2018

Indie Dev

In that year, I started building my own projects. I came up with lots of different ideas. One of them was Wallshapes.

Good and hard times

The Netherlands

In 2019, I moved to the Netherlands with my boyfriend at the time. It was a very challenging time for me to leave my family and friends.

The Netherlands is an awesome country. The only thing that I really missed was the people I love.

2019

2019

More iOS Freelance

I still continue with my freelance projects. I built an app to simulate loans for a company in Brazil, and I continued with the other freelance job with the credit card company.

Pandemic

It was the year of the pandemic, and many strange things happened.

My father got COVID-19 and went to the hospital for weeks. I was almost desperate because I couldn't go there to see him. Fortunately, he was fine after a couple of months.

2020

2021

Sri Lanka & Nepal

After all the stress with COVID-19 and lockdown, I finally got some space to travel again. So, I accepted to go to Sri Lanka to work remotely as a freelancer together with two Dutch guys. We worked a lot for 3 months straight and we made loads of money during that time.

The time in Sri Lanka was one of the best. Then we spent almost 3 weeks in the Himalayas in Nepal. We did the Annapurna Circuit together.

One of the most challenging experiences of my life!

Code From Anywhere

When I went to Sri Lanka, I joined Code From Anywhere. Working in this company brought me many cool experiences in work and life.

I worked on many different projects and technologies. I had the opportunity to sharpen my web skills using React Native, ReactJS, TypeScript, NextJS, NodeJS, Vercel, and many other tools and frameworks.

I also built the Find ClarityAI iOS app using SwiftUI and whisper.cpp.

2021

2022

Apple Developer Academy, Italy

I got into the Apple Developer Academy at Unina.

Great experience! I met a lot of nice people at the university. I saw Tim Cook in person at the conference. I had the opportunity to live in Italy for 4 months by myself, and I enjoyed it a lot.

It was a good time to learn together and get closer to the iOS community.

Bali, Thai, Brazil

I went to Bali with Code From Anywhere, and it was the time for networking. I met some very interesting people there at the coworking space.

We built a community of AI Founders and had the opportunity to meet real indie devs and digital nomads. We built Rapli and many other AI tools.

We went to Thailand to have a good time and also to Brazil to see my family and friends.

2023

VisionOS

Now I want to go deep into iOS development.

I'm very excited about VisionPro. I'm already testing the VisionOS SDKs. I think it will be the future!
